This section covers key words and phrases associated with sending and recieving emails. Part of this is the conjugation of the common verbs used in the topic. The Greek word for an E-mail (ηλεκτρονικό ταχυδρομείο/ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΤΑΧΥΔΡΟΜΕΙΟ ) is literally just a translation of Electronic Mail (notice the word for "mail" is the same word used to refer to a Post Office), but it is common in Greece to use the English word "e-mail" without even replacing the lettering with Greek script.

Here is an example of a typical e-mail that might be sent to arrange car insurance with the translation into Greek following. Note how once we try to contruct a more real life usage of Greek, that the subjunctive case (verbs with να/ΝΑ in front) is used a great deal.
I would like to arrane some car insurance for a Renault Clio. I would like to know how many named drivers I can have on the contract. Can you sort this out by the 14th of March, because I need to drive the car on Saturday 14th March. Could you supply me with a quote as soon as possible.
Many Thanks.Θα ήθελα να αγοράσω ασφάλεια αυτοκινήτου για ένα Ρενό Κλειώ. Θα ήθελα να ξέρω πόσους ονομαστικούς οδηγούς μπορώ να έχω στο συμβόλαιο. Μπορείτε να το κάνετε πρίν της 14 Μαρτίου, γιατί χρειάζομαι να οδηγήσω το αυτοκίνητο το Σάββατο 14 Μαρτίου; Μπορείτε να μου στείλετε μία προσφορά οσο το δυνατό συντομότερα;
Ευχαριστώ πολυ.
This is also a useful example of how online translation tools can be useful but not relied on for anywhere near a perfect translation. If we take the Greek text above as translated in the classroom, and feed it into the BabelFish translator the following is returned when asked for a Greek to English translation:
I would want to buy safety of car for [Reno] Clio. I would want to know how much nominal drivers I can have in the contract. Can make him before 14 March, why I need to lead the car Saturday of 14 March? Can send to me a offer as long as possible more shortly?
I a lot thank.
So yes, it can be useful to work out something means, as we can get the gist of the original intended message, but the word for word translation gives rise to fairly awful grammar.
