Prepare for the Πιστοποίηση Ελληνομάθειας (Certification of Attainment in Greek) B2 exam. B2 shifts your Greek from everyday chat into formal writing: register shifts, complex participles (active in -οντας and passive in -μένος), advanced conditionals, discourse markers, and the vocabulary of politics, law, economics, science, technology, and the environment. You'll practice structured argument essays, formal complaints, opinion pieces, and the mini-debates the exam tests. Frequently asked questions

What is the Πιστοποίηση Ελληνομάθειας B2 exam?
It's the official Modern Greek certification issued by the Centre for the Greek Language, recognised across Greek universities, public-sector jobs, and citizenship applications. B2 is the most commonly requested level. The exam tests reading, writing, listening, and speaking over about four hours.
How is B2 Greek different from B1?
B2 is where you shift register. B1 got you handling real life; B2 gets you writing formal complaints, arguing both sides of a topic, and reading legal or academic Greek. You'll meet formal participles, complex conditionals, and vocabulary from science, politics, and the arts.
Where is a B2 Greek certificate accepted?
Greek universities (undergraduate and postgraduate admissions), Greek civil service and public-sector employment, EU work permits inside Greece, and Greek citizenship applications through the recent language-test requirement. Private employers also accept it as proof of professional Greek.
How long does it take to prepare for the B2 exam?
Around 6 to 8 months after finishing B1, depending on how much you write and speak. B2 has 44 topics plus mock reading passages and structured writing prompts, so the practice is built in as you go.
What Greek vocabulary should I know for B2?
Around 3,500 to 4,500 total words, spanning politics, economics, law, science, technology, environment, culture, and formal discourse markers. B2 introduces roughly 1,000 new words on top of B1's base, organised by theme so they stick.
